We let the facts do the talking.

Not the time for your Poker Face

Oh no, not when you’re trying to communicate with your client.

Body language. We’ve talked about it before, but you just can’t talk enough about how important it is when dealing with those you deal with. Your eye movements, gestures, even the way you stand, can emit such different messages to what comes out from your mouth.

In PR, this is important. What you wear, to what you say and how you say it makes a difference in whether you nail that pitch or not.

Calm down
Are you shouting or over excited? It happens when we’re running off adrenaline and trying to sell something. The thing is, you can’t coerce people into like you’re, you need to calm down and explain why they can’t possibly do anything else.

Look at me
Not at your notes, not around the room, but at me.

Show me
Yes, you can use gestures, just don’t be all grand about it. Gesturing helps us visualise and understand each other’s emotions.

When it comes to making a connection, do not, dare not, use a poker face. It’ll only make sure they don’t listen to you in the first place.

Any other suggestions?
