This is about a journey. A journey that began on 12th March 2017 at Cicero & Bernay (C&B) Communication Consultancy. Having already worked a few years in Dubai prior to joining C&B, I got a chance to prove my capabilities in a competing and evolving PR industry. C&B provided me with the right platform. I would like to share with you the lessons I learned up the ladder while my life evolved.
In the last few years, I have seen a lot of changes. On the personal front, I have gone from being single to marrying the love of my life and beginning my motherhood journey. Meanwhile, on the professional side, I climbed my way up to reach the position of Senior Account Manager.
They say life is a roller coaster ride, but you make that choice of stepping foot on it. Being a part of the C&B family for these years has had its share of ups and downs, successes and disappointments, but the learning has been immense and so has been the chance to evolve as a communications executive. However, out of all this, there is one strong lesson – always have the attitude of gratitude, wherever you are. It has helped make this journey of mine more meaningful and fulfilling.
I have come a long way with support from my colleagues and family. One lesson I have learned is to trust myself and to continue loving what makes me happy. Yes, there are challenges every day, but I have also been reminded by the people around me of what I am capable of and looking back now, I know I have proved myself as a successful professional.
I owe it to this industry, where multitasking is the way of life – as this has helped me immensely as a mother as well as a pro. I have managed to focus on work and my family with equal attention and care because this industry teaches you to handle a lot simultaneously, while not compromising on the quality of work.
Another lesson I have learnt during this tenure is to have a deeper understanding of the people you work with. Each one has a different culture, everyone battles their ups and downs, but also each one is a very valuable asset. Compassion and empathy is important – thanks to the industry I work in, the colleagues who bring in a lot of learning every day, and a company culture that encourages such values.
It finally goes down to the people you work with; from clients to colleagues. While there are many names to mention and possibly all I have worked with, every person has helped me grow in some way or the other.
To condense in a few words – this has been an incredible journey so far. One that I am thankful for, and look forward to, each day, every day.
